Maksutov, an easy to understand example of vestigial organs are the horses vestigial toes which serve no purpose whatsoever but indicates the changes that the horse goes through. There are pictures of horse evolutionary ancestry in their toes that became hoofs.
Also, the leftover wings of wingless birds could drive the point even more clearly.

Atheist Miracles
by Perry ini reworded a variation of a common critique of atheists to my own liking.
no, i do not hate atheists, i love them!
they keep me from getting bored.

Perry,
That so called dinosaur tissue was a colony of bacteria. Common sense would tell you that something that is 4,000 years old, as young earth creationists say it is, would long ago have decomposed entirely.

Governing Body Needs To Fight For Social JusticeCalifornia’s low-wage workers now earn less than in 1979
by RoyalFlushPhil injws with good jobs need to thank themselves for not quitting their job because the trend is things are going to get worse as wages drop and inflation eventually moves upward.
the housing market shows this mess happening right before our very eyes, think about the rental markets, their really tight because people don't have money to buy houses and they don't have the down-payment.
many have fear their investment won't grow like they did prior to the 2008 meltdown years, their lack of conviction is driving rental prices higher.

RoyalFlushPhil, I appreciate the post that you made but my advice would be to keep the title much shorter. -

That applies to any religion including Christianity.

Newton versus Watchtower quackery
by opusdei1972 inthe following is a watchtower's criticism against newton:.
down through the ages, talented scientists have indeed made surprising breakthroughs in their search for answers to puzzling questions about nature.
some, however, have also made serious errors in the process.

Watchtower,
"However, Newton also pursued alchemy, a pseudoscience that used astrology and magical formulas in attempts to turn lead and other metals into gold."
This might seem ironic but Newton was an avid fan of Biblical chronology:

I wonder if the Watchtower missed that on purpose.

"The organisation is imperfect, but it doesn't affect my relationship with Jehovah"
by Alive! ini've noted active, devoted jw's state the above.. and, it's not a problem for me to remain trusting of god, i just don't trust religions or men.. recently, a member of this forum stated that he remains an active jw, in the family of god's people, wanting to encourage and do good - whilst recognising that the pastoral leaders (the gb) have shipwrecked the faith of many, being unsound scripturally etc, etc.. stop and think about this - the bible says to not follow after those who lie and hurt the faith of "little ones".. the pharisees were accused of traversing over lands and expending much energy to make a single convert - only for that convert to end up worse of than he started off with.. it's one thing to not believe this is the 'truth' and feeling the awful pressure of managing ones life, trying not to lose ones family.. it's quite another thing to declare oneself to be a christian believer of god's jw household, and somehow believe the god of love would use corrupt liars to parade as jesus' brothers in the urgency of last days.
really?
and, to then visibly promote faith in corrupt men, and try to bring converts into a place where the rulership is wrong.. some of us are dying from hurt here.......give me a break..

Brother Jeramy,
"No, I did not seek any kind of rebaptism. There is only "one baptism," and inasmuch as I ended up coming to reject the Watchtower Society's baptismal formula that I originally affirmed at my own baptism, I also know that Jehovah is not bound by human formulas."
If you had a Catholic baptism does that mean that you don't have to be rebaptized? Which is worse, Catholic baptism or JW organization baptism?

Question: Are single sisters allowed to be missionaries in other countries?
by Wild_Thing inas far as i remember, only married couples were allowed to be missionaries.
my jw sister recently told me that single sisters can be missionaries, too.
this sounds too progressive for jws, so i just want to verify it.

Seems very easy to leave now, why do people hesitate?
by Xanthippe inwhen i see people on here saying they've looked on several sites before this one, jwfacts, jwstruggle, youtube, etc., and then they make friends here, sometimes meeting up with ex-jws, it seems incredibly easy compared to leaving in 1989. .
no internet, no amazon to find ex-jw books, no facebook to link up with ex-jw groups.
still people find it so hard to leave.

I was already fading before my disfellowshipping. That wasn't a conscious decision but I would have gotten to the point where I would stop attending altogether. I was suffering anxiety attacks out in field service. That stress led me to write a letter to one of the elders. That was what got me disfellowshipped. I don't think I could have survived today's circumstances in the Witnesses without dropping out quickly. -

Ditto. That's the most common reason.
